When spring cleaning comes, you need to be thorough. This is the time when you greet the new season with a completely cleaned home, ready to take in everything that the new year will offer. If you feel unsure of your cleaning abilities, you don’t need to worry – you don’t have to be a professional cleaner to do the job yourself. And if you really cannot do it yourself, then there are always cleaning companies that will be glad to tackle the job in your stead. But home cleaning is no big deal. All you need is some guidance and you can do everything. Here are the five things you should know to leave your home as shiny as possible.
1. Get microfiber cloths.
Forget all the cleaning tools that you are used to. Since its invention, the microfiber cloth is all you need for every room and every surface in your home. You no longer have to use newspapers for your windows and risk ink stains being left behind, and you no longer have to switch between cloths for wiping and dusting. One cloth to rule them all – that is the microfiber cloth. Use a dry cloth for dusting and a moist one for scrubbing stains, and you can wipe away to perfect surfaces and windows.
2. Use the proper cleaning products.
There is a reason why there are different cleaners for different kinds of surfaces. Always make sure you are cleaning with the correct cleaner, otherwise it will not have the full effect on the material you are cleaning. If you have the option, you can also buy the bit more expensive green cleaners that markets provide today – make your home both clean and healthy.
3. Go top to bottom.
Some people clean their floors first and then proceed with the windows and dusting off cobwebs off the ceiling. Do not follow their example – all those cobwebs and the dust will fall down on the clean floors and then the carpet cleaning has to be repeated. Clean the ceilings first, the windows and cabinets, and shelves second, and then proceed with vacuuming and mopping the floors.
4. Do one room at a time.
People often tackle too many rooms at one time. This makes the cleaning process very chaotic, and you don’t need that as it only complicates things. Pick a room, get it clean, then proceed with the next one – it is that simple. Also, sometimes mixing rooms can lead to some unsanitary decisions like cleaning the kitchen floor with the same mop you just used for the bathroom.
5. Be thorough.
Many times homes don’t shine because they were not cleaned thoroughly enough. There are always stones to be turned. Do not cut any corners when house cleaning, because any dirt or dust left behind might be a future problem or the cause of the neighboring spots to get dirty again. Clean everything you can think of and think about whatever you could have missed – things like light switches and outlets are often neglected, so try your best not to.
Follow these tips and get your home clean and sparkling, ready to amaze your guests with your cleaning abilities. You can do it all by yourself, all you need is to pay attention and exercise some diligence.
